Costs Involved

cost

The youth registration is $15.00 for one year, which includes an agreed upon payment to the United States Foundation for International Scouting in support of BSA World Scouting and $1.00 annual accident insurance.  in addition there are cost relating to uniforms, programs fee, camping fees, etc.

Scouting does charge fees for membership, events and trips. Council and unit fundraising will help with those costs, and will give a Scout the chance to earn the money he needs to participate in summer camp or other programs. However, it is the position of the Orange County Council that money should not keep a young person from enjoying the Scouting program. If you’d like more information about this, please contact Susan Susan Atcheson at (714) 546-8558 x133 or susana@ocbsa.org.

Below is a list of basic needs to get a young person started in each Scouting program, to give you a rough idea of what’s expected. Before you buy anything, however, make sure you talk to the unit’s leader. He or she will be able to tell you about any specific uniform or equipment rules for the pack, troop or crew.

Cub Scouts

Note: some individual Scout units charge a unit fee
