“Camp Cards – They’re not Just for Scout-O-Rama”
May 11, 2014
Those of us who attended this year’s Scout-O-Rama enjoyed an even broader array of displays and booths, and we saw well-deserved, record breaking attendance with about 10,000 people. But did you know that the “ticket” you used to get in – your Camp Card – has value all year long?
Besides serving as a ticket for Scout-O-Rama, the Camp Card Program serves many purposes for Scout packs and troops as well as the individuals who buy them. For your pack or troop, it’s a great fundraiser, allowing you to collect about a third of the sale of the proceeds of the $10 cards. For the buyer, Camp Cards pay for themselves almost immediately. The $10 off coupon at Dick’s Sporting Goods and the $5 off coupon at Ralph’s Supermarket pays for 1 ½ times the cost of the card immediately, and discounts at Golden Spoon, Boomers, and SportClips will save you money til the end of 2014. What a country!
Furthermore, Camp Cards support Scouting in Orange County as an important fundraiser for the Orange County Council, which brings you—besides the fun of Scout-O-Rama—the Newport Sea Base, the Outdoor Education Center in Irvine, Oso Lake Boy Scout Camp, and the Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley in San Diego county.
It’s certainly not too late to sign up your troop or pack to sell Camp Cards. It’s a great fundraiser that serves a greater purpose and delivers superb value to the buyer.
