This course picks up where the Orange County Council High Adventure Adult Basic Backpack Course left off. The topics include snow travel, winter environment, winter foods, proper winter gear, and much more. You will receive a course workbook via download prior to the course. Even if you only plan to go out for the day, you will be glad you took this course!
In addition to the one day of classroom training, the course includes an overnight camp featuring snowshoe hiking. The overnight outing is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of February 22–23, 2014. (The date may change depending on good snow availability). When you have completed the overnighter, you will receive the Winter Backpacking Course patch segment and a certificate of completion.
This class is limited to the first 20 people to sign up = register early!
- Completion and passing of the Basic Backpack Course, and must possess the Certification card.
- Current completed BSA Health Form (parts A, B and C National-Health-Form ). Must be turned in at classroom session on February 8th.
