Leader Specific Training for Scoutmasters & Assistant Scoutmasters @ Saddleback District
Oct 4 all-day

The LEADER SPECIFIC TRAINING (LST) course addresses the needs of adults who have recently accepted the responsibility of delivering the Scouting program to youth in a Boy Scout troop. This course is part of a new Scoutmaster or assistant Scoutmaster’s introduction to the Boy Scouts of America and to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful troop leadership experience. LST is conducted in a “classroom lecture” format and is open to all registered adults.

This course is open to any registered Scouter from any district and any council. Training materials & enthusiastic trainers are provided. Advanced registration is required, class size is limited and spots fill quickly.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) @ Saddleback District

INTRODUCTION to OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS (IOLS) provides the opportunity for registered adults to learn the basic outdoor Scout skills required to be a leader in a Boy Scout troop or Varsity team.

Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook. The course is also ideal for Boy Scout and Varsity adult leaders because it focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.

To receive credit for participation and completion of the course you must be present for the whole session.

Any registered adult 18 years + may register for courses in any district and/or council.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) @ Saddleback District
Oct 11 all-day

BALOO Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation training course.

A day of fun and learning that prepares pack adults to easily plan and safely conduct outdoor Cub Scout family adventures. Per current BSA requirements, one BALOO-trained adult is required for any pack family camping event. No exceptions!

BALOO sessions include the why and how of Cub Scout camping – planning, equipment, meal preparation, and campfire programs. Included in this course is a round-robin session covering: fire safety, stoves, and lanterns; first aid and sanitation; nature hikes and games; and cooking.

Pre-registration is required (no walk ons) so staff can effectively prepare program materials in a cost efficient manner. Registration includes lunch, insurance, jokes and all program materials.

This course is open to any registered adult from any district or council!

This specific one day training is being conducted by the Rancho del Mar District and is open to any registered Scouter from any district and any council. Training materials & enthusiastic trainers are provided. Advanced registration is required, class size is limited and spots fill quickly.
