The Orange County Council, BSA is joining kindness forces with the Girl Scouts of Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) to participate in “One Billion Acts of Kindness.” This special initiative, launched by OCDE Superintendent, Dr. Al Mijares, has the potential to be a serious game changer for our children and the entire county. We are asking every Scout and Scout leader to commit to one act of kindness every day in November in an effort to establish a trend that will last the entire school year. If all 50,000 Girl Scout and Boy Scout members do just one act of kindness each day for 30 days in November, we will log 1.5 million acts of kindness! That’s a game changer!
It’s as easy as doing one act of kindness and then logging it on the 1BAK website: kindness1billion.org. As all Scouts know, “A Scout is Kind” is the sixth point of the Scout Law, so we believe our Scouts and leaders already pro-actively live out this virtue. All we need to do now is log it and make it contagious. Imagine the impact in our communities as our Scouts lead the way in kindness, on their school campuses, in their neighborhoods, on the ball fields and encouraging other friends to join in.
