Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley

When a Scout imagines what a summer camp should offer, he'll find his dreams come to life at Lost Valley.  Nearly everything a Scout could want can be found at this camp: swimming at two pools, boating at the lake, rifle, shotgun, and archery shooting at the ranges, horseback riding on miles of forest trails, an observatory for star study, handicraft centers for creative projects and hiking.

Two dining halls provide Scouts with meal service during summer and year round programs.   During the summer season, for older Scouts, a High Adventure Center gives challenges that include rock climbing, rappelling, and a COPE course.  The program is a series of challenges that the individual must overcome.  Some require teamwork, others just personal initiative.

Lost Valley is the most remote Scout camp in the west.  It is a rustic, wilderness camp.  Located at the end of a ten-mile dirt road, the 1,400 acres owned by the Orange County Council are surrounded by State Park, National Forest, and an Indian reservation - at 4,500 feet, trees and wildlife are etched into the scenery, affording forest views, natural sounds and animal encounters.  Deer are often found grazing in the meadow at dusk.

In July and August, the camp host over 3,000 Boy Scouts to the best in summer camping.  During the rest of the year, thousands also enjoy the camp with organized special programs.  Lost Valley's summer program is accredited not only by the BSA National standars, but also by the American Camping Association.  Reservations are required through the Council Service Center.

From one day to the next, camp is never the same.  The vastness of size and scale, the vegetation and views are sensational.  Whether you visited Lost Valley this year, or have never visited before, you will have a new experience each time.  Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley offers a place where temas are built, where families gather, where new friendships are struck and where camaraderie endures.

The Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley is located in the Warner Springs Area of San Diego County.  It is a rustic wilderness camp with 1,400 acres of oak, pine and chaparral, bordered by the Cleveland National Forest.  The camp has 22 new cabins, two swimming pools, a three-acre lake, rifle, archery and shotgun ranges, horse stables, a mountain bike center, an observatory, two handicraft centers, an Indian Village with an active archaeological dig and a nature center. Two dining halls, Beckman Hall and Casey Lodge, provide Scouts with meal service. Scouts can also participate in High Adventure programs, with challenges ranging from rock climbing and rappelling to black powder shooting and COPE.
