The Conservation Committee Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley invites Scouts and Scouters (no siblings please) to a weekend of learning and helping (hands-on) the environment at Schoepe Scout Reservation. Scouts may earn the Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badge while doing much needed projects at camp under the direction of the Conservation Committee. Soil erosion control projects will teach Scouts how to be participants n the ecosystem of Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley while earning advancement. Qualified professional staff and counselors will be teaching this merit badge. The sign-offs will be done on Sunday morning. Scouts who prepare and commit themselves, should complete the merit badge requirements.
The cost is $40.00 per person. Food and cabins will be provided.
The maximum enrollment is 40 Scouts. As always, reservation are made on a first come, first served basis. You may call at any time and check if there are any cancellations. A waiting list will be developed as needed.
Participation Requirements:
Scouts register by unit. Two adults per unit are required, while maintaining at least a 1-to-5 ration of adults to Scouts. Adults must be in compliance with BSA Youth Protection requirements. Additional leaders are needed to help with various projects throughout the weekend.
Each Scout needs:
- A "blue card" (application for Merit Badge) signed by his Scoutmaster.
- To read the merit badge book and have it in possession.
- Writing paper, pencil and a three-ring binder. Instant picture camera (optional).
- Daypack, raingear, appropriate season clothing, work gloves, water bottle, sun protection and sleeping gear.
- If there are any cancellations, please notify the Camping Department in writing at least two weeks prior to the committed date. There are likely to be Scouts on a waiting list.
