The Stars and Stripes Luncheon celebrates the amazing professionals in the food & grocery industry. Our ‘Good Scout’ Stars & Stripes honoree is nominated by his or her peers and is selected based on his or her commitment to living life in a fashion that is harmonious with the Scout Oath & Law.
Commander Chuck Street of KTLA news has been the emcee for this luncheon for the past 25 years. He has helped us to not only honor our yearly Good Scout Award recipients, but his presence has helped us raise a collective $2 Million and then some.
2008 HONOREE: BOB McKEE
Bob McKee has worked in the grocery industry for the last 35 years. He joined Food 4 Less in 1988 just prior to the opening of the first two stores. He held the positions of Buyer, Director of Purchasing, and Vice President of Grocery. Bob served as Group Vice President of Non-Perishables for over 3 years and was promoted to his current position of Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing in August 1999.
Bob’s experience prior to joining Food 4 Less includes Six years with Stater Bros. Markets where he became a Store Manager at age 21. He also spent Eight years with P.I.A. Merchandising as Account Manager and District Manager, One year with Pepsi-Cola as District Sales Manager, and Three years with A.M. Lewis Wholesale as Director of Buying and Merchandising.
Bob has served as President for the Food Industries Circle for City of Hope, along with receiving recognition for his participation in such organizations as Easter Seals, the Mexican American Grocers Association and the National Conference for Community and Justice. He has been honored with the Dennis Day Memorial Award from the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the City of Hope Spirit of Life Award.
Bob currently resides in Chino with his wife Linda and four sons
