Direct mail, newspaper ads, banners in neighborhood and Pump Top TV ads invite 18,000 families of Cub Scout age boys to sign up at store locations on specified dates. Direct mail piece includes Scout application and location of nearest stores.
2-3 Scouting representatives (unit leaders, parents, older Scouts w/adult) welcome and register interested boys/families in front of Ralph’s/Food for Less Stores.
New members (or unit leaders turning in applications for their Pack) pay $20 registration fee per boy and turn in completed application. New members who sign up will receive water bottle, t-shirt and voucher for 1st book at Scout Shop.
After registration, Scouting representatives give new families information about the local Pack or Troop their son will join. (Each store site will have a listing of each Pack/Troop by city with leader contact information and the Scouting representative will highlight the Pack/Troop for the new family to join).
After store recruitment sign-up campaign, all registrations will be collected from site representatives and turned in to district executive.
Unit leaders will be contacted with copies of all the new applications for their Packs.
New families should receive a welcoming contact from their Pack leadership inviting them to the next meeting.
Packs are encouraged to conduct follow-up recruitment through October.
