HIGH ADVENTURE

ADULT BACKPACK AWARENESS TRAINING

 The Orange County High Adventure Team is proud to be conducting the next Basic Backpack Awareness Course on Friday night through Sunday morning, September 26 through September 28, 2008, at the Council Training Room ( 1211 East Dyer Road, Santa Ana). 

Course topics include Map and Compass training, proper Backcountry gear, food planning, preparing your body for the backcountry, Low Impact Camping, and much more. If you plan to take your groups hiking or backpacking, this course is a must!

In addition to the classroom courses, participants will take a day hike and an overnight trek. You will have several dates in October and November, to pick for these outings. Most Scout “High Adventure” Awards are available only if the Trek Leader has completed this course. 

The course is open to Adult Venture, Boy Scout, Cub and Webelos Leaders. The cost for the complete course is only $45.00. Included with your course completion card are a course manual, “HAT” insulated coffee mug, Course patch and a backpacking segment. The course is limited to the first 100 people to sign up.
