The Youth Protection Team will continue to provide the program on a monthly basis in one of the nine Districts. The video starts at 7:15 P.M. so plan to arrive by 7:00 P.M. to register (sign-in), no one will be admitted once the presentation begins. You must stay for the entire presentation to become certified and receive your signed and dated Youth Protection card. There is no charge for this training. You may purchase a Youth Protection patch for $2.50 at the training or the Service Center. Remember: The video, “A Time to Tell” is available to show to Boy Scouts and “It Happened To Me” is available to show to Cub Scouts with a parent present. Venturing video for youth “Personal Safety Awareness” is also available at the volunteer service desk.
Starting in 2004, the Boy Scouts of America mandates that a Youth Protection trained leader MUST accompany every unit outing and a current certification is required for approved tour permits. EACH REGISTERED ADULT IS REQUIRED TO TAKE YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING EVERY 2 YEARS. All training is online at www.scouting.org but we prefer that you take it at least once in a class. If your unit would like a special showing please: Write an e-mail to Ana Lily at lilyy@ocbsa.org, with a couple dates that you would like the showing, please give a persons contact so we can respond to you. Also, you need to provide a DVD player.
