We have listened to your feedback. Effective immediately, Orange County Council Scouts BSA Girl Troops may register on February 1st with a minimum of 5 girls. It is our hope that all girls will be given the chance to join Scouting, and having at least one Troop in every District is critical for having a place for them to sign up. While the Executive Board still strongly agrees that new Units with a minimum of 10 Scouts from the start helps to promote success and longevity, they do recognize the need to give girls interested in joining today the opportunity to start their adventures now and trail to Eagle as soon as possible. There will be two conditions for this exception:
- An all-girl Troop can register now with a minimum of 5 girls, BUT must have a minimum of 10 to recharter at the end of 2019.
- This exception is ONLY for troops starting in 2019. Troops organizing in 2020 and beyond will have to start with the required 10 Scouts.
The Council Membership team along with our District Family Champions stand ready to assist with your recruiting and information needs.
Please contact Julie Anderson if your Troop is ready for February 1st and she can put our team into action to help you grow. We do need some time to confirm all the paperwork is correct to ensure you’re 100% ready to go on the 1st.
For those still working on organizing a Troop, please refer to our information page at www.ocbsa.org/family-scouting for additional assistance.
Thank you. Let’s get our Girls ready for their Scouting Adventures!
